In the ministry one knows that the FACE is important to keep smiling for those who are weak, fearful and in doubt about all sorts of issues in their own lives. Sometimes people can get insecure by 'reading' the Pastor's wife's face wrong! Folks have a tendency to think everything is about them..... and not about your own life. So it's important to 'smile awhile and give your face a rest.... or rather 'smile a while and give their hearts a rest'....
Recently I suffered a Facial accident which for a time will leave me with a slightly red swollen lip! Really God spared me as it could have been REALLY bad! But I smile anyway and watch people's eyes go immediately to my lip! Without knowing the miracle it looks like I've had surgery for a cleft palate!
I was moving boxes (hubby was also moving boxes along with the Gkids) and a very sharp short sword (one of my husbands collections of swords) got moved to a top shelf --- so the Gkids couldnt hurt themselves.
I didn't realize this and reached up to move the stuff on that very shelf. The sword came down and hit me in the mouth. It sliced my upper lip and pierced my lower lip. - almost knocked me out. Long story short.....lots of blood - butterfly bandages - lots of sorrys - and life calmed back down.
Moral of the story is --- don't reach above your head into shelves that you may find surprises tumbling down on you!
Very very thankful to know that this accident could have been so bad and this is all that happened. God is good!
So I'm smiling.... yes the humor of it all is funny now - although at the time I was not. No one knows the story - so they assume... which makes me smile more!
