Off the Plane and into God's Plan

After 3+ hours we landed in Haiti in a little plane from Florida - the flight was smooth and the landing perfect.  We could see looking down from above, the crumbled buildings and flattened metal and concrete mess covering the entire area.  Trusting God to lead us to every person He has planned for us to meet and help, the Bishop and I step out with complete peace. 

 

Serendipity!  The very first person we meet is exactly who we are to meet! Amazingly he was right outside the Airport in the parking lot. The Bishop and his path had crossed many years ago in the same Bible School!  And a simple phone number on a paper, jumps off the page, turns into real life and ministry friends come alive! 

 

We spent a little time getting to know the Benete ministry family before loading up and taking off into Port Au Prince.

After some arrangements for a place to stay for us, and transportation for everyone is arranged. Our ride comes to take us from the airport - it's called a Tap Tap.

 

Our sleeping bags can be given to the Pastor to give to someone else in need.  We will not be needing them.

 

Pastor Benete's wife is a sweetheart who speaks English and she shares a little about her life with me on the road.

 

And their baby girl Daisy sleeps in peace wrapped in my sweater while the wind rushes through the Tap Tap on the long ride.

 

We are here to be a blessing.... we know God's plans are at work for us!!

The Bishop and I have driven to Florida and will leave 6am Thursday Feb 18 on a Cessna 8 passenger plane for a 3+ hour flight to Port Au Prince Haiti. No return flights yet... we will see how and when we return to the USA.
We will be staying in a Pediatrics Hospital while we are there.
I will tell you all about it - when I can. Pray for us, there are many people counting on our help in Haiti.

The Health Project

A Health Project is placed in the gym for the New Life family to put together...

 

The group of volunteers came in to put together the books, videos, cassettes, and notebooks.  These sets will go to hospitals all over the world for education, support and these will provide valuable tools for populations .

1 Million Baby Wipes

I publicly said we need 1 million baby wipes for Haiti.  They are so important right now - with such a severe lack of water for cleansing it's essential to have them.  So far I have 3 million baby wipes donated.... do you know why  these are so useful?

Practical  Baby Wipes for Earthquake Victims:

 

1.      A economical form of soap and water when there is none.

2.      Gentle and non irritant form of cleanser to sensitive, tender and damaged skin.

3.      Baby wipes clean babies' bottoms.

4.      Protects against infections – diaper rash.

5.      Effective cleanser for little runny noses.

6.      Can be used instead of a tissue for sneezes and coughs

7.      A  temporary form of a bath in an emergency – all over the body – age wide.

8.      Washing hands and arms from grime and dirt after handling debris/spreading germs.

9.      Wiping a sweaty brow from a child trying to sleep in the heat.

10.  Cooling effect to the face living outside in the heat for a worried mom.

11.  Mopping up food spills to keep from being sticky and drawing bugs

12.  Wiping will protect clothing / bedding  in emergency living conditions (long term wearing of the same clothing needs extra care)

13.  For wiping  hands after handling possible contaminated surfaces/rocks/ human remains

14.  They make ideal travel companions when surviving outdoors.

15.  Wipe up area to set a child down in a unsanitary area.

16.  No need for washing over and over – quick hygienic and clean with every wipe.

17.  Storage is simple - prepackaged and ready for use instantly.

18.  Clean up temporary eating utensils/cups ect.

19.  Used for soiled shoes/ feet – after walking in garbage or rubble

20.  Cleaning cloth for personal effects/toothbrushes/brushes

21.  Alternative toilet paper source

22.  Keep from spreading germs person to person by hand washing with wipes

23.  Soothes dry skin

24.  Temporarily cool a sunburn by gently patting the area with a baby wipe.

25.  Baby wipes can also be used to treat cuts and scrapes/ cleanse a wound in a emergency. Although most wipes don't have any antiseptic properties, one can be  used for an initial cleansing before applying the proper topical treatment.

Another Container goes to Haiti for Moms Against Hunger

Container #4 gets completed and shipped.  It was a very cold day with our staff packing this container.  But when I think of the suffering happening in Haiti while we are shivering outside packing this, there is no comparison between shivering and suffering!!!!!  I am privileged to get to be someone who is bringing supplies to them.

Arrangements are beginning for a trip to Haiti.... I can't wait to go and be there to help.

Full Gospel Fellowship - Houston

We hosted a Full Gospel Fellowship Dinner for Ministers and their wives here in Houston. Pastor Don Hoxworth arranged this and everyone had a great time. 

 

 

Good Word.... great singing..... delicious meal.... it was a wonderful evening of fellowship for all the ministers that attended.  It was nice to see some we have not seen in a while. 

Ladies Retreat Trip

I was a Guest Speaker at the 'Women of Excellence' Conference last week -and several ladies went with me.  We all had a great time together - it was nice to have them with me. This Conference was for the women in leadership in  5 churches.

 

Jacki Davidson presented me with an  Lifetime Achievement Award that surprised me.  She was so kind to do this for me...it touched my heart and made me a little shy - I feel uncomfortable when people do these things. 

 

 

 

 

It was a beautiful retreat of dedication and renewal for these women who carry  many responsibilities in their home churches. 

Do you know it's a proven fact that women carry the majority of the actual 'arms and legs' work in the local church? They really do so much and women in leadership need times of refreshing at Retreats.

Container # 4 leaves for Haiti....

Time keeps on slippin..... into the future.

This past week has been extremely hectic as we have had all sorts of guests, projects and time sensitive matters to deal with. Everyday has been a 12+hour day - I think my days and nights are running together. It's like being in overdrive..... or running on adrenaline both physically and mentally  non stop.

Maybe this next week will slow down enough for me to show you a few pictures of everything that's been going on here.
