We have been dealing with stray cats in our yard on and off for years. They are wild and at night the yowling sounds terrible! These are Ferrel cats that somehow claimed our yard as their own. Missy goes into orbit when one of them is in the yard. We have never fed them and always try to scare them off, but they have remained.
They take over the back porch laying on our chairs and table uggh!! So after putting up with this for a long time... we took the time to get a trap and get serious about getting rid of them.
So far we have caught 3 cats and 2 possums!! Missy is so proud of herself and thinks 'she' did it. The pound tells us .... 'ahhh can you wait a few more days before you bring us more....'
Sure.... but we are determined to change this zoo into a restful yard.
How to catch them:
Our first trap was too small and the cat simply walked in.... held the trap up with his/her back or hind legs... ate all the food and then backed out and sarcastically strolled past it with a smart remark I am sure. So the next one we got was this size -large.
Put sardines inside.... but take the sardines out of the tin... lay them on a plate at the very back of the trap. Set the trap in a area where the cats/animals have been seen to be. Cover it with a towel so it does not look like a trap. (These are crafty critters who have a lot of street smarts) Then wait....
You will be sure to catch something.
We did!
