Here is what it means in clear terms.
In the Old Testament A Sacrificial Lamb was the way for man to reach God:
1.Able gave a lamb as a sacrifice unto God. Genesis 4:4
2.Abraham presented his son as the lamb sacrifice - but prophetically said, 'God will provide Himself a lamb' (which God did - generations later) Genesis 22:3,7-8
3.Jehovah God prepared the Israelites for the last plague of Egypt by having them put the blood of a lamb on the doorways of their homes, so the destroyer would PASS OVER them and they would not suffer death. This would be known as PASSOVER AND IT WAS TO BE CELEBRATED YEAR BY YEAR. Exodus 11-12
4.Moses gave clear and concise instructions for offering a lamb sacrifice for sins to be followed implicitly. Leviticus 3:7
in the New Testament Jesus Christ is God's way to reach man:
1.Jesus Christ is the Messiah who was prophesied that He would set His people free. He would be born of a virgin. PLUS AN INCREDIBLE amount of other details about the Messiah that God was sending to the world, hundreds of years before! Isaiah 7:14 (is just one)
2.Jesus Christ is proclaimed as the Lamb of God who takes away the sins of the world. John 1:28
3.Jesus Christ died on a cross and shed His sinless blood as the pure lamb sacrifice for our sins.I Peter 1:18-19
4. JESUS WAS CRUCIFIED AT THE PASSOVER TIME . Mark 14
5. The Great Book of Revelations declares Jesus Christ to be the Lamb slain from the foundations of the world. He was crucified, and was the holy sacrifice that by His blood we are redeemed and set free.Revelation 1:5 Revelation 15:3
PASSOVER is celebrated year by year the same time as EASTER is ....... Let this come crystal clear for you right now reading this.
Jesus IS the PASSOVER LAMB.
And for those who believe ..... shall His Blood cover and wash away their sins.
I John 1:7
