My Role Models of America leaders surprised me with a lunch - just for my birthday. Everybody was there but Cressie. I walked in for a quick bite with Angela and everyone was sitting there! I missed Cressie though.
They all love to razz me about being 50 and they had prepared 'gifts' to help me down life's road ahead. Things like a walker (with wheels) adult diapers, and a cane. Then the real cards and thoughtful gifts came out.
We all had a fun time talking about getting older, life and our families. We are having a get to together next weekend, so this day was a very special time of no planning, no deadlines - just our friendships together.
Together we have walked through serious sicknesses like a massive stroke and recently a quadrupole bypass with husbands, several divorces, teenage troubles, job changes, births of babies, and grand babies, some with menopause some with new husbands and most recently one of us has suffered the death of her husband. Now there are two of us that are widows. We range in ages from the 80's down to the 20's! We've been through alot together so we are pretty tight!!! We intend to stick together through out our lifetimes.
With lots of laughter, snapping pictures and hugs everyone went out the door- on with their day - and I am warmed by their presence in my life. Thank God for friends that love me!!
