One of the things we enjoy together as a couple is snorkeling in the deep blue ocean. It is so much fun to put our masks and fins on, and jump overboard into the crystal clear Caribbean sea! We got a chance to go snorkeling for a day in Cancun Mexico, and it was so relaxing for us. Pastoring can be stressful in this modern age, and just finding the time to de-stress can be hard to say the least. So our day alone was wonderful!
We climbed into a taxi and headed for the little fishing village called Puerta Morea. It is halfway between Cancun and Playa Del Carmen. The sleepy little village has a small town square and a church. After going inside the little church to sit a moment and pray together, we walked down to the boats beached on the beach and there we found a boat starting to board for a snorkeling trip out in the reef. Perfect timing!
When you get that first look underwater at the fish and all the beauty of the sea - you are hooked!! It's seeing the slow underwater sweeping waves flow back and forth with the tide - and all the brilliant colors of the coral and fish. So awesome to see. And after a couple of hours out in the reefs of Mexico - climbing back on board the boat we headed back for our 10 minute boat ride back - completly chilled out! Smiling at each other covered in salty water now drying on our skin - we head back to our hotel happy.
We saw turtles, eels, stingrays, multitudes of gorgeous colored tropical fish and all sorts of corals, rock formations and salt water foliage. No words can aptly describe the beauty of God's private aquarium - the Sea. He deserves praise for His incredible creations beneath the depths of the ocean. Greens, blues, orange, pinks, bright yellows and reds - who said God doesn't like color on his creations!
Carefully we swim around the large rocky formations to not bump or touch anything - we are only observers not intruders into their world. We get to watch the schools of fish slowly float past our goggles - and we point out things to each other underwater in our excitement. They all seem oblivious to us and go about their little busy fishy worlds ignoring us. Fabulous. I would go again today if I could.
